Concrete Batching and Mixing
System: Meridian Batching software, Siemens S7 PLC and Profibus network
This factory was an entirely new installation, with Dickinson being involved from the very beginning in the design of the batching system. The proposed system was quite large and complex, consisting of 2 mixers, 10 variable speed drives, 18 fixed speed drives, 2 material skips, 13 weigh scales, 7 Hydronix moisture probes (including two HydroControl IV mixer systems), 3 remote panels and I/O cards and an oxide weighing and conveying system.

Meridian was installed and connected to a Siemens 135U PLC with a 928B CPU. A ProfiBus network was used to link up the main CPU with the three remote I/O panels, the variables speed drives and a COROS OP operator interface. A sophisticated system of scheduling and tracking batches was implemented into Meridian to take into account the staggered batching sequence that was required.
